Consultation, intelligence and evidence

KwikChex works extensively with many authorities and official consumer protection organisations, including law enforcement, government departments and specialist sector regulators.

How we support authorities

  • Expert consultation on online defamation, online reviews and fraud policy.
  • Intelligence on detecting online fraudulent activity and identifying perpetrators.
  • Evidence provided to law enforcement officers, including witness testimony in criminal prosecutions.
  • Support for evaluations and investigations in KwikChex specialist subjects.

Track record

KwikChex has been consulted by the UK Ministry of Justice on online defamation, as part of the process of bringing in new defamation laws, and by the Competition and Markets Authority on online reviews — work that culminated in recommendations and actions by the CMA. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has also consulted KwikChex regarding online reviews.

Our intelligence and evidence is used both to prevent consumers falling victim to crime and to apprehend and prosecute those responsible.

Frequently asked questions

What support does KwikChex provide to authorities?

We provide consultation, intelligence, investigative findings and evidence packages to Trading Standards services, police forces, regulators and consumer protection bodies dealing with online fraud, fake reviews and misleading trading.

Is there a cost for authorities?

Much of our engagement with enforcement bodies is collaborative and provided without charge. Larger consultancy or research projects are scoped and quoted individually.

Can KwikChex evidence be used in proceedings?

Yes. Our investigations are documented so findings can support enforcement action, and we have contributed evidence to prosecutions and regulatory action in the UK and abroad.

How does an authority start working with KwikChex?

Contact us through the enquiry form and select the authorities option. We will arrange an initial discussion covering scope, confidentiality and data handling.
